Psychological Testing
Psychological Testing/ Psychometry
Detailed answers to important questions
Sometimes a clinical interview alone isn’t enough to answer the question at hand. Is this attention problem ADHD or something else? Is there an underlying learning difficulty? What kind of personality patterns are at play in these recurring difficulties? Is there a cognitive change that family members have noticed?
Psychological testing — also called psychometry — uses standardised, validated instruments to measure cognitive abilities, attention, memory, personality traits, emotional functioning, and more. The result is detailed, objective information that complements (rather than replaces) clinical understanding.
Types of assessment we offer
- Cognitive (IQ) and academic assessment — including children, adolescents, and adults
- Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) evaluation — for children and adults
- Learning disability assessment — dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia
- Personality assessment — for diagnostic clarification or self-understanding
- Memory and cognitive assessment — for memory complaints in older adults; see also our
- Pre-employment / fitness-for-duty assessments — where required
- Diagnostic clarification — where a primary diagnosis is unclear after clinical interview
What a testing appointment looks like
Unlike a therapy session, a psychometric assessment is more like a structured exercise. You’ll meet our psychologist or psychiatric social worker, who will explain what the assessment involves and what specific tests will be administered. You then work through the tests at your own pace — some involve answering questions on paper or a screen, some involve activities like memory or pattern tasks, some involve standardised questionnaires.
After the testing session(s), the clinician scores and interprets the results in the context of your clinical picture. A detailed report is then provided, with findings, interpretation, and practical recommendations — what these results mean for you, your treatment, your education or work, and what next steps might help.
